Russian Military Commander For Ukraine War Replaced
Russia has replaced Sergei Surovikin the former military commander for the Ukraine war with Gen. Valery V. Gerasimov.
It was in the month of October 2022 when Gen. Sergei Surovikin was appointed as the new Russian military commander for the Ukraine war. Previously, he served as the head of Russian forces in Syria and earned a reputation as a cruel yet effective military commander. However, just after 3 months, Sergei Surovikin has been removed from his commander position.
Now Russia has appointed Gen. Valery V. Gerasimov as the head of the Russian military for the Ukraine war. To people’s knowledge, Gen Valery V. Gerasimov has served as the chief of the military general staff since 2012.
The announcement of Gen Valery V. Gerasimov taking the responsibility of military commander for the Ukraine war has been made by the Russian Defense Ministry.
Internal Power Struggle
As per the Institute for the Study of War, removing Sergei Surovikin from the position of military commander and appointing Gen. Valery V. Gerasimov as the new military head is all part of an “internal power struggle”.
If reports are to be believed, Russia’s President, Vladimir Putin wants to weaken the power and influence of some of the major authorities who are becoming significantly serious about the direction the Ukraine war is taking.
Appointing a new military commander was a thoughtful political action to make the Russian MoD stronger against challenges from the Russian pro-war bloggers and Sergei Surovikin.
Hundreds Of Russian Soldiers Killed
As per Ukraine, more than 100 Russian soldiers have been killed near Soledar. In recent days, the mining city of Ukraine has been involved in an intense war, with Russia claiming to have control of the city.
However, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s president called all the claims false and declared that Soledar is still in control of Ukraine.
A message flashed on the popular messaging app called Telegram in which Ukraine’s special military forces stated that Russian soldiers have been killed near Soledar and all credit goes to the joint effort of military personnel, gunmen, and rocket launchers.
It also stated to have used Tochka-U missiles to execute the attack. As a result, more than 100 Russian soldiers lost their lives.
The main reason why Russia wants to capture Soledar as it may aid them to attack and get control over Bakhmut which is the strategic Ukrainian city nearby Soledar.
Body Of Missing British Aid Worker Found
As per Russia’s Wagner Group, the body of one of the missing British aid workers has been discovered. The 28-year-old Christopher Parry and 48-year-old Andrew Bagshaw were last seen while leaving for Solar.
As per sources, Christopher, the resident of Cornwall was working as a running coach in Cheltenham when Russia started the war. While Andrew Bagshaw was a New Zealand resident.
The Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office spokesperson stated: “We are supporting the families of two British men who have gone missing in Ukraine. “We are aware of recent reports and are in touch with the Ukrainian authorities.”
However, the message on Telegram from the Russian mercenary group claimed that the dead body has relevant documents that demonstrate that they were British.
China Called Putin Crazy
Chinese officials stated ‘Putin is crazy’. They firmly believe that there are possible changes that Russia will lose in the Ukraine war.
The social media is loaded with interesting comments made by Chinese authorities just weeks after Putin and Xi Jinping took a vow to deepen bilateral ties.
In private discussions with Financial Times, some of the Chinese officials stated that “China shouldn’t simply follow Russia” on the issue of Ukraine.
From the above conversation, it is quite clear that Mr. Xi may be trying to keep China at a good distance from Russia. Even one of the Chinese officials stated: “Putin is crazy”. As per them, there is a high possibility that Russia will fail to win against Ukraine.
